Hello All,
Welcome to My Halloween
Page for 2010. This year Rachel decided that we should do a Singing Pumpkin Man
again, except this time bigger and with backup singers. So we built a six foot
tall singing pumpkin head using plywood, paint, and rope lights. We also used
the backup singers from last years Monster Mash to sing harmony. The "CANDY"
sign and Arrows were just for fun. Our Pumpkin Man is singing Marilyn Manson's
version of the theme song from "The Nightmare Before Christmas." We added a
black light under the front porch to make all the kids costumes glow. The guys
at Hamilton built a really cool smoke filled large bubble maker. This was a big
hit; all the kids loved it! We also rebuilt the bird and brought back all the
fun front-of-the-house stuff. The Singing
Pumpkin uses rope lights (lots and lots of rope lights), the backup singers use
pneumatics, and all are run by a Light-O-Rama 24-channel control
system. An A/B plc drives the Walkway show (which also uses pneumatics). Optical
sensors are used to trigger the two shows. Check out the pictures and videos below.
We heard from many people, and they really liked the show, but we actually heard a lot of comments about the cannon
from Halloweens past. So maybe next year the cannon comes back and we shoot out
a Black Cat? (Just kidding, not really.)
There is a video at the
bottom that shows the Singing Pumpkin Man and his Backup Singers doing their
thing. Other videos will show the Smoke Filled Bubble Maker in action, a Crazy
Spinning Spider, and Blowing up Ghost Peeps in a Microwave. I did not include a
video of the Walkway show, but the show consists of Ghosts lighting up and popping up
from behind Tomb Stones, Creature trying to escape from the
coffin, Three pumpkins rising up and lighting up, the Rocking
Chairs are lit up and rocking, Mr. and Mrs. Skeleton, and Jr. are on the bench
under the Spider greeting guests, the
Raven flaps his wings, tilts forwards and backwards, and rotates his head, the Spider travels his web from top to bottom,
the smoke filled bubble machine and black light adds
ambiance, lights and pumpkins add to the festivities, and of course Disney's
"Grim Grinning Ghosts" Haunted Mansion Theme Song is playing in the background.
